Lake Travis fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter Thursday night.
The Cavaliers then came right back and took charge, scoring the next 63 points as they stayed undefeated with a 63-21 win against Austin Bowie in the District 26-6A opener at Dripping Springs, where Lake Travis is playing due to renovations going on at its stadium.
The Cavaliers are now 5-0, which featured a win at Rockwall on Sept. 5 - the same Rockwall team that last week upset defending UIL 6A Division I state champion North Crowley. Lake Travis is also ranked No. 24 in the latest edition of The Sporting News Texas Top 25 rankings.
It was also the 26-6A opener for Austin Bowie (3-2, 0-1), as the Bulldogs entered Thursday having won two straight games, the latest a 29-10 triumph against Converse Judson.
Bowie continued its momentum by jumping out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. But Lake Travis settled in and gradually came back to tie the score.
The Cavaliers then took the lead for good in the second quarter and they continued to build that advantage. They ended up scoring 42 first-half points, capped by a 94-yard interception return on the last play of the half, in going up 42-14 at the break. Lake Travis then opened the second half by scoring three straight TDs to forge a 63-14 advantage.
