Opening night of the high school football season in Tennessee has a great game on tap.
A pair of playoff contenders in different classifications, Knoxville Halls and Oak Ridge, square off on Thursday night.

Last season, Halls finished with an 8-4 record. The Red Devils return senior quarterback Amari Lethgo, who threw for 2,602 yards on 200 completions along with 24 TDs. He also added four rushing TDs.
Also returning for the Red Devils is senior receiver Brody Rogers, who led the team in that category. He caught 73 passes for 1,002 yards and eight TDs.
Oak Ridge went 9-5 last season and made the 5A semifinals before falling to Sevier County. The Wildcats also bring back a dynamic quarterback/receiver combo, with senior signal-caller Blaine Stansberry having thrown for 2,290 yards and 19 TDs in ’24, with senior Will Pressley accounting for 900 yards receiving and 10 TDs.

This will be the first matchup between Halls and Oak Ridge since 2014, when the Wildcats rolled to a 42-0 win. The two schools played five times in the 2010s, with Oak Ridge winning all five games by a combined score of 183-30.
