ROGERS, Arkansas - Jeff Regan thought he had been part of a high-scoring game last season when Rogers put up 70 points.

The Mounties topped that on Friday, with Regan - the Mounties' senior quarterback - playing a huge role. Regan accounted for more than 360 yards of total offense and six total touchdowns as Rogers scored 63 first-half points en route to an 84-40 win against Sheridan at Whitey Smith Stadium.

"Last year, it was 70, and so to top it off with 84, that's crazy," said Regan, in his second season as the Mounties' starting quarterback.

One of the reasons Rogers was able to put up an extraordinary number of points was Sheridan coach Kevin Kelley's propensity to go for onside kicks and generally going for it on fourth down regardless of where the Yellowjackets have the ball - a trait famously going back to Kelley's successful tenure at Little Rock school Pulaski Academy.

"It was just execution," Regan said. "We had to get the onside, had to get the onside and from there, it was just reps."

Regan finished the night completing 12-of-19 passes for 252 yards and three TDs. He also had 111 yards rushing on seven carries, scoring three times as well.

"(I had) a lot of scrambles," he said. "You know, I just saw gaps on defense so I could take advantage of it. But hey, the throwing was there, too; I mean, whatever we called was open.

"The coaches had a great game plan, so I just did it, went out there and did what they told me to."

Rogers scored TDs on each of its first 12 possessions. On the Mounties' 13th possession, they had the ball inside the Sheridan 25 but elected to run out the clock, ending the game.

Through three games, Rogers (3-0) has posted a total of 172 points.

"I think we've just really locked in," said Regan, a second-year starter at quarterback who has committed to the Air Force Academy. "I think the experience that they got from last year, a lot of these dudes are returning, so I think just that experience and really locking in on their duties. These past three games, they've been playing great, so shout-out to them."

Sheridan, which defeated White Hall in its opener two weeks ago, dropped to 1-2.

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Sheridan punts deep in its own territory, and it lands near its 45. Mounties march right down the field again, as Jeff Regan finds Braxton Lindsey for a 4-yard TD. (Rogers, 63-27 | :54, 2nd)

- PICK-SIX ROGERS. Mounties already hanging half-a-hundred with four minutes still left in the first half. Braxton Lindsey jumps the route and grabs the pick near the Sheridan 35 and waltzes in untouched. (Rogers, 56-27 | 4:20, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Mounties put together yet another quick scoring drive, and once again, it's QB Jeff Regan with the honors, taking a 19-yard keeper and diving into the end zone for the finish. (Rogers, 49-27 | 5:06, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN SHERIDAN. Jackets convert on another fourth-and-long as Dax McMellon launches a 58-yard deep pass, with JP Black catching it in stride. PAT is blocked. (Sheridan, 42-27 | 6:04, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Sheridan goes for it on fourth down at its 25 and comes away empty-handed as a pass falls incomplete. Then on the next play, Jeff Regan throws a 25-yard strike to the end zone, and Parker Nix comes up with a diving grab. (Rogers, 42-21 | 7:31, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Back come the Mounties again. One play after Jeff Regan takes a fourth-down keeper 20 yards to the Sheridan 1, Xander Burke plunges forward for that last yard. (Rogers, 35-21 | 9:20, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN SHERIDAN. The second quarter begins with Sheridan facing a fourth-and-long from inside its 30. Jackets go for it, and get it on a hook-and-lateral play as Zay Stephens takes the toss near midfield and breaks free for the score. PAT is good. (Rogers, 28-21 | 11:47, 2nd)

FIRST QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Mounties put together another quick scoring drive, capped by Jeff Regan's 13-yard keeper. Still time left in the opening quarter. (Rogers, 28-14 | 1:23, 1st)

- Sheridan faces fourth-and-long near the Rogers 30. Jackets connect on a pass, but Rogers LB Braxton Lindsey smacks the receiver well short of the first down. Mounties take over.

- Rogers tries an onside kick of its own, but Sheridan comes up with the ball.

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Back come the Mounties, after recovering yet another Sheridan onside kick. Score comes on a 2-yard pass from Jeff Regan, an Air Force commit, to tight end Braxton Lindsey, a BYU commit, who snags the pass in the back of the end zone. (Rogers, 21-14 | 5:48, 1st)

- TOUCHDOWN SHERIDAN. Jackets come right back with another short series, as Dax McMellon connects again with Dylan Smith from 20 yards out. Try for two fails, and we're tied. (14-14 | 6:50, 1st)

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Back come the Mounties. Sheridan onside kick attempt is recovered by the Mounties at the Jacket 49, then a few plays later, QB Jeff Regan takes a keeper 10 yards to the house. PAT is good. (Rogers, 14-8 | 8:22, 1st)

- TOUCHDOWN AND TWO-POINT CONVERSION SHERIDAN. Just like that, the Jackets take the lead on a quick drive of their own. QB Dax McMellon fires a 35-yard pass to Dylan Smith; then the Jackets go for two as McMellon fires a slant to Zay Stephens. (Sheridan, 8-7 | 9:15, 1st)

- Sheridan's Zay Stephens catches a pass out of the backfield on third-and-long, and the Jackets have the ball at the Rogers 35.

- TOUCHDOWN ROGERS. Mounties need just two plays to score on the short field. Jeff Regan throws a 34-yard strike to Dracen Voak; then on the next play, Voak takes a reverse and goes 15 yards down the sideline for the score. (Rogers, 7-0 | 11:29, 1st)

- Sheridan tries an onside kick to start the game but it doesn't go 10 yards. A Rogers player makes the recovery anyway, and the Mounties will start at the Sheridan 49.

PREGAME

- Rogers will receive the opening kickoff to start the game.

- Live from Rogers High School, the undefeated Mounties are getting set to welcome in the Yellowjackets of Sheridan, who enter with a 1-1 record.
