Sophie Cunningham slams Angel Reese for Chicago Sky comments: 'Not great' image

Sophie Cunningham isn't a fan of what Angel Reese seemed to say about her Chicago Sky teammates.

In a clip from her "Show Me Something" podcast with Skip Bayless shared on X Tuesday, September 9, Cunningham made it clear how she feels about the ongoing furor surrounding Reese.

"It’s not great. There’s just some things that you can’t say," she explained. "I’m a very team first type of person. I always put the team before my feelings and I think that should be a standard. You got to protect your locker room."

Earlier this month, Reese told Chicago Tribune reporter Julia Poe she isn't happy with the Sky's direction this season, and she hopes they add more talented players to the roster ahead of next year. Reese said, "I'm not settling for the same s--- we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That's a non-negotiable for me. I'm willing and wanting to play with the best."

The young star added that she didn't "intentionally mean to put down my teammates," but to some degree, the damage was already done. Rachel Banham admitted she felt "blindsided" by what Reese said, and Ariel Atkins admitted, "I think I just don’t really care. I’m so over all of this s---."

Reese later apologized: "I want to apologize to my teammates, which I already have, about the article and how it was misconstrued, about what was said. I just have to be better with my language because I know it's not the message, it's the messenger," she explained. "And understanding what I say can be taken any type of way. So I just have to really be better and grow from this."
