The Fever entered the 2025 season with hopes of a lengthy postseason run. There were times this season that it felt like a long shot because of mounting injuries to the roster.
Caitlin Clark has been the most noteworthy absence in Indianapolis. The second-year guard has played in just 13 games this season, beset by injuries to her groin, quad, and ankle. She's been joined on the sidelines by Sophie Cunningham (torn MCL), Aari McDonald (broken foot), and Sydney Colson (torn ACL).
Despite all of that, the Fever were able to clinch a playoff berth on September 7 after they beat the Mystics 94-65. Now that they have a playoff spot secured, all eyes turn to their potential first-round opponent.

Indiana Fever playoff picture
The Fever found themselves clinching a postseason berth in their second-to-last game of the regular season. Indiana currently holds the seventh seed, with a half-game advantage over the eighth-seeded Storm. The Sparks trail both squads as the ninth seed.
Indiana had been treading water in the weeks since Clark went down with her latest groin injury. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell have taken their production to new heights, with Mitchell averaging 22.5 points and 4.4 assists in her past 10 games. Boston, meanwhile, has played every game this season and is an All-WNBA candidate.
Indiana's playoff hopes seemed dashed when Clark was ruled out for the remainder of the year, but the team persevered and now awaits to see what seed they will be and, more importantly, who they will face in the first round. The Fever cannot be lower than the seventh seed, but could move up to sixth.
