Harley Reid looks set to enter the AFL’s most exclusive pay bracket, with West Coast prepared to put forward a revised contract worth around $2 million a season.
The 19-year-old midfielder was previously linked to a complex arrangement that would have stretched more than a decade and totalled $24 million.
But according to 7NEWS Perth reporter Ryan Daniels, that plan has been abandoned in favour of a shorter, simpler extension.

“The old two-year plus a nine-year extension to get to $24 million, I don’t think that’s going to happen now,” Daniels told Triple M. “That is going to be reworked, it’s going to be a much shorter deal. We’re talking the $2m club, the Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera club.”
If agreed, Reid would become only the second player in AFL history to command more than $2m per year, joining St Kilda’s Wanganeen-Milera, who signed a $4m, two-year deal earlier this week.

Reid has already clocked 39 senior appearances since his debut and is viewed as the cornerstone of West Coast’s future rebuild. His 2025 campaign was cut short by a serious ankle injury in July, but coach Andrew McQualter insists his focus hasn’t wavered.
“Harley is invested in our football club,” McQualter said. “He’s back here doing his rehab program, building himself back up for a big season.”
