Port Adelaide star and West Coast premiership player Willie Rioli has announced that the 2025 season was his last, after he retired on Monday.
A crafty small forward, Rioli booted 151 goals from a 109-game career throughout his time with the Eagles and then the Power.
Rioli experienced a turbulent time off-the-field in 2025, as he was the victim of racist abuse following a social media post he made after Port Adelaide’s round five win over Hawthorn. He was subsequently suspended for one week a few weeks later for a threat made against Western Bulldogs player Bailey Dale.
Speaking to the club’s website, Rioli explained that he had given all he could to the game.

"I retire knowing I've given all I can to the game at the highest level," Rioli said.
“I made up my mind a couple of weeks ago that this would be my last season and it was great to finish on such a high last Friday night at Adelaide Oval.
"I want to see even more opportunities given to our young, talented small forwards at Port Adelaide in Joe Berry and Tom Cochrane. They're the future of our club. It’s time for me to step aside.
"I now look forward to playing my role in helping the next generation of First Nations' players coming through."
Rioli was the 52nd pick in the 2016 national draft, but didn't debut for West Coast until round two of 2018 against the Western Bulldogs.
Rioli wouldn't kick a goal until his third game, but performed well enough to hold his spot in the side for the remainder of the year, playing an influential role in the Eagles' 2018 premiership side, where he'd have 12 disposals and a goal in the decider.
Rioli would join the Power ahead of the 2023 season, netting 91 goals from 58 appearances during his time at Alberton.
Rioli joins Travis Boak and Rory Atkins on the list of Power players who have called time on their careers this year, as a defining off-season for the club looms, as coach Ken Hinkley has officially handed over the keys to Josh Carr.
The Power cut ties with five other players on Monday, with Ryan Burton, Jeremy Finlayson, Dylan Williams, Lachie Charleson and Hugh Jackson all not offered contracts for next season.
