Selwyn Cobbo could potentially play for the Broncos before season’s end image

Broncos and Maroons star Selwyn Cobbo is on the verge of a stunning comeback.

Reported by The Courier Mail, the Wynnum Manly Seagulls included Cobbo on their extended bench for this weekend’s Queensland Cup preliminary final.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined with injury but could make an early return after progressing ahead of schedule in his recovery.

Broncos coach Michael Maguire confirmed that both Cobbo and Broncos five-eighth Ezra Mam are pushing to play, despite initial fears their seasons might be over.

In another boost for the Seagulls, Broncos forward Xavier Willison has been cleared to return from a fractured forearm.

The Seagulls face a high-stakes clash as they look to book their place in the Hostplus Cup decider. Cobbo’s inclusion, even as a late-game option, would provide a huge lift for Wynnum Manly and Broncos fans alike.

The final team list will be confirmed an hour before kickoff, but all eyes will be on Cobbo’s potential return in what would be one of the stories of the finals series.
