Fantasy Week 3 QB news updates

  • Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn announced Friday that Marcus Mariota will replace Jayden Daniels (knee) for Week 3.
  • Brock Purdy (toe) has been practicing but looks like he'll miss Week 3. Stay tuned to Week 3 Sunday fantasy updates on our page. Mac Jones would be a solid superflex/2QB option against an Arizona Cardinals defense that let Bryce Young do late-game damage in Week 2.
  • With J.J. McCarthy (ankle) out a few weeks, Carson Wentz could be a pleasant fantasy surprise in Kevin O'Connell's Minnesota Vikings offense. Not to say he'll be the next Sam Darnold, but this environment could elevate him in many weeks for superflex/2QB players.
  • Justin Fields (concussion) will be replaced by Tyrod Taylor, who faces a tougher assignment in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Who are the best fantasy QBs to start in Week 3?

We'll start with Josh Allen (vs. Miami Dolphins), Lamar Jackson (vs. Detroit Lions), and Patrick Mahomes (at New York Giants). Mahomes belongs here because of his increased rushing tendencies, and the Giants' woeful pass defense in general.

Caleb Williams nudges up to No. 4 after a stellar Week 2, despite a 52-21 loss to the Detroit Lions. Ben Johnson's scheme flaws aside, the Dallas Cowboys' secondary will allow Williams to challenge them freely, especially if CB Da'Ron Bland (foot) must miss another week.

We're giving due props to Daniel Jones, who conquered the feared Denver Broncos defense in Week 2 and as quarterback still hasn't had a drive stop to punt through two games. That's literally historic. While the Titans' defense may be underrated, the Indianapolis Colts are tramping opponents right now.

Which QB sleepers should I stream for Week 3?

Many managers are now planning how to replace Joe Burrow in fantasy leagues, both this week and for likely the rest of the season.

We're giving the following quarterback sleeper upgrades this week:

  • Already a borderline starter, Dak Prescott will get to have another big day against the Chicago Bears.
  • Ditto for Drake Maye, who finally put his legs to good fantasy use in Week 2 and draws a favorable Pittsburgh Steelers pass defense.
  • Consider shaky quarterbacks Sam Darnold (vs. New Orleans Saints) and Bryce Young (vs. Atlanta Falcons) for superflex/QB2 leagues and streaming on the crux of favorable defensive opponents.
