Updated Week 3 Fantasy TE Rankings: Who to start, best sleepers, and streamers at tight end image

The tight end landscape has taken many hits in fantasy football circles, including the George Kittle (hamstring) injury that sent him to injured reserve and several underperforming yet draft-day-expensive names.

Heavy investors on draft day at the position have indeed seen mixed results. In most fantasy leagues, tinkering with other options on the rise looks appealing.

What does this mean for Week 3 production from tight ends? We once again line up our favorite starts and fades below.

FANTASY LINEUP TIPS: Week 3 Start-Sit | Week 3 Sleepers | Week 3 Busts | Week 3 Waiver Wire

TE fantasy rankings news updates for Week 3

  • Tucker Kraft picked up a knee injury in practice Thursday but is set to play against the Cleveland Browns.
  • Evan Engram (back) is OUT. Anyone who was rostering him should consider non-Denver Broncos options as replacements. Too much of the target shares in the passing game go to Courtland Sutton, Troy Franklin, and Marvin Mims (and RB J.K. Dobbins).

Who are the best fantasy tight ends for Week 3?

Assuming Brock Bowers (knee) is active for Week 2 and makes it through the game OK, he'll move up into the rankings to join Trey McBride and surging rookie Tyler Warren in Tier 1.

  • Kyle Pitts is "back" in the circle of "trust" -- more so because he's averaged 5.5 catches per game and gets to run routes against a weak Carolina Panthers secondary.
  • Juwan Johnson's incredible touchdown catch in Week 2 teases the upside as arguably the top target for New Orleans Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler. The 10.5-target average per game helps, too. The Seattle Seahawks even let a non-George Kittle tight end find the end zone against the 49ers in Week 1.
  • We're more confident in using the Detroit Lions' Sam LaPorta this week. The Baltimore Ravens have allowed a league-high 20.3 PPR points per game to tight ends.

Which fantasy TE sleepers should I start in Week 3?

  • The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears meet in Week 3 and boast soft landing spots for TE production from Jake Ferguson and Colston Loveland, respectively. Both lack the secondaries to tame any focused use of the position.
  • Keep rolling with Harold Fannin Jr., who'll again have a versatile role for the Cleveland Browns for Joe Flacco against the Green Bay Packers.
  • With Carson Wentz filling in for J.J. McCarthy (ankle) under center, T.J. Hockenson likely will be more involved in the passing game. With WR Jordan Addison (suspension) set to return in Week 4, this may be Hock's last chance to feast for a while.
