After just one season, the Denver Broncos chose to move on from 2024 fifth-round pick Audric Estime. The team cut him in one of the moves it made to get down to its 53-player roster this year.
Estime fell behind in training camp this year after the Broncos added RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins during the preseason. Head coach Sean Payton noted that Estime's career was not over after being cut and that Tyler Badie's performance this summer pushed him off the team. Well, Estime's career will continue with the Philadelphia Eagles as the defending Super Bowl champions have signed him to their practice squad.
The Eagles were one of the best rushing teams in the NFL last season and while Saquon Barkley is still very clearly the man there, it could be the perfect spot for Estime to further develop as a player. The only other running backs on their 53-man roster are Will Shipley and A.J. Dillon. There could soon be an opportunity for Estime to add to their backfield.
Estime will likely be hungry to get into the good graces of the Eagles and show that the Broncos made a mistake by giving up on him so soon. Earlier this summer, it seemed blasphemous that there could be any idea the Broncos wouldn't include him on this year's roster, but once preseason games started, it became a strong possibility.
Then, there was this statement by former Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay, who made these claims about how Estime behaved in camp this summer.
WOW: Former Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay claims RB Audric Estimé has been “pouting” during training camp practices due to being upset about being 4th/5th on the depth chart.

Lindsay says these attitude issues have been a reoccurring issue dating back to his rookie season. 😳 pic.twitter.com/Gq9o88cL6v
If true, that could have been pretty damning. Payton is not going to tolerate that with any player, let alone a late-round draft pick who had fumbling issues. Estime certainly could have remained in Denver with a better performance this summer, but Badie easily seemed like the more effective runner in the offense and there was no way Estime was going to be kept in front of Dobbins, Harvey or Jaleel McLaughlin.

The Estime chapter is over in Denver. Hopefully, for him, his new chapter in Philly is far brighter.
