JUMP TO:

The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers rivalry has seen plenty of notable moments. But through more than 60 seasons and 39 meetings before Sunday night's game, it had yet to see a draw.

History was made in matchup No. 40.

The Cowboys and Packers jousted like prizefighters atop the AT&T Stadium turf. But when the dust settled, the two were inseparable. Dallas and Green Bay drew their matchup, 40 apiece, a curious result to one of the league's most highly-touted regular-season matchups in recent memory.

Both sides had their moments. The Cowboys (1-2-1) were spearheaded by Dak Prescott (31-of-40, 319 yards, four total touchdowns, zero interceptions) and George Pickens (eight catches, 134 yards, two touchdowns). Meanwhile, the Packers (2-1-1) received glistening showcases from Jordan Love (31-of-43, 337 yards, three touchdowns), Romeo Doubs (six catches, 58 yards, three touchdowns) and Josh Jacobs (157 total yards, two touchdowns).

Micah Parsons' name was scrawled across columns ahead of Sunday's game. He was fairly quiet through the first four quarters. But in overtime, he overcame the steady diet of double teams that followed him to cut Prescott down behind the line of scrimmage. His sack proved vital; Prescott looked destined to trot into the end zone for a go-ahead touchdown.

The result might be underwhelming to those desperate for the all-or-nothing sensation of a win or loss. But it was reflective of an evenly-matched contest between two franchises with plenty of animus. That has to count for something.

The Sporting News tracked live updates from the Cowboys' Week 4 clash with the Packers. Below are highlights, analysis, and more from one of the best games from the early-season slate.

Cowboys 40, Packers 37

11:54 p.m.: Parsons cuts Prescott down! That's his first sack of the day! It couldn't have come at a better time for the Packers, who hold Dallas inside the 10. Brandon Aubrey is coming out for the field goal now.

11:51 p.m.: What a find for Prescott! Evaded pressure — including Parsons — before catapulting an effort to towards the boundary. Tolbert  reads the flight of the ball  and gets his feet in bounds to set up Dallas on the goal line.

11:50Ip.m.: The Cowboys look to Pickens on the biggest down of the night. So of course he delivers, nabbing his eighth pass of the day way past the marker.

11:48 p.m.: Not much available for Dallas in its first two OT plays. The Cowboys face third-and-four deep in its own territory.

11:45 p.m.: Cowboys win the toss. They'll receive the ball first to start the extra frame.

End of fourth quarter: Cowboys 37, Packers 37

11:43 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! McManus splits the uprights. To overtime we go.

11:33 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Dallas wastes little time returning the favor. After an impressive Turpin return, the Cowboys move the ball 54 yards in a little more than a minute. They cap their wondrous run with another Pickens score, with the Dallas newcomer dancing past a Packers defender before trotting into the end zone.

Cowboys 37, Packers 34

11:27 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Doubs again! He shakes off his marker to collect his third score of the game! Green Bay leads!

Packers 34, Cowboys 30

11:22 p.m.: Wilson dropped the ball while attempting to turn upstream. But Marist Liufau leveled him with a crunching blow well after the ball caromed off the ground. That's a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty and a first down deep in Cowboys territory.

11:19 p.m.: The Cowboys lose containment after having Packers tailback Emmanuel Wilson dead to rights. The elusive runner slaloms past a string of broken tackles before moving the ball into Green Bay territory.

11:10 p.m.: The Packers are down a field goal with less than four to go. Not exactly a two-minute drill for Love and Co. But pretty damn close. Let's see if they can cut into Dallas' advantage.

11:07 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Javonte Williams scores on the direct snap! Dallas takes the lead with less than five minutes to go!

Cowboys 30, Packers 27

11:04 p.m.: A timely facemask penalty has Dallas on the edge of the red zone. Things could get very interesting here with a little less than six minutes left.

11:00 p.m.: Parsons briefly exited the game with an apparent back issue. He was summarily taken to the medical tent and examined, but was cleared to return to action. He is back on the field now, fielding double teams while attempting to track down Prescott.

10:52 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Jacobs again! The veteran tailback slaloms through would-be tackles for an 18-yard score. His move capped yet another lengthy Packers drive. More importantly, it brought the lead back to Green Bay.

Packers 27, Cowboys 23

End of third quarter: Cowboys 26, Packers 23

10:45 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Now, it's Dallas' turn to return to pay dirt. Prescott hits star tight end Jake Ferguson as the Cowboys go out in front...again.

Cowboys 23, Packers 20

10:34 p.m.: The Cowboys went to KaVontae Turpin to move the chains on a pivotal third down. The speedy wideout opted to run towards the boundary before fielding Prescott's lofted effort. Dallas is in Green Bay territory.

10:28 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Green Bay finally got into the end zone. It just took a few more plays to do so. Jacobs trots in from short distance to give the Packers the lead.

Packers 20, Cowboys 16

10:22 p.m.: The Packers are on the prowl now. They've authored quite an impressive drive thus far, racing some 75 yards to get to the doorstep of the end zone. Tucker Kraft thought he got in after collecting a Love pass. But the referees deemed he dropped to the canvas just short of the goal line.

10:13 p.m.: Prescott took a shot, looking for Jalen Tolbert on the fade. His effort sailed. Green Bay will take over deep in its own territory.

10:09 p.m.: We're back in action from AT&T Stadium. Dallas will attempt to build on its end-of-half fireworks to start the third.

End of second quarter: Cowboys 16, Packers 13

9:49 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Prescott. Pickens! The Cowboys take the lead after the former Steelers wideout displaces his marker and snags the ball out the sky.

Cowboys 16, Packers 13

9:48 p.m.: FUMBLE! James Houston rips the ball out of Love's grasp and jumps over it inside of the Packers' 15-yard line! Dallas will have a chance to further cut into Green Bay's lead — or take the advantage for itself.

9:40 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Prescott takes advantage of Pickens' acrobatics. Two plays later, the Mississippi State alum sneaks into the end zone courtesy of a QB sneak. The Cowboys are back in this.

Packers 13, Cowboys 9

9:38 p.m.: Dallas desperately needs some points on its final possession of the first half. George Pickens took notice, ripping the ball out of the sky over two defenders to put the Cowboys on the goal line. That's just what the doctor ordered in Big D.

9:25 p.m.: Green Bay's fourth drive of the day sputtered out after collecting a first down via an unnecessary roughness. Dallas will looks to cut into the Packers' advantage after forcing the punt.

9:15 p.m.: Another Dallas drive goes wanting. The Cowboys are forced to dump the ball off after three plays as Green Bay attempts to add to its advantage.

9:07 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! The Packers add to their advantage, with Love hitting Doubs for his second score of the game. The subsequent PAT was summarily swatted away and brought back for a score by Dallas, so it's just six for Green Bay.

Packers 13, Cowboys 2

9:05 p.m.: Green Bay is once more humming, having bypassed Dallas' weary defense to bring the ball into the Cowboys' half. Things looked a bit hairy for Love and Co. partway into the drive. The star delivered an errant throw that fell into Trevon Diggs' grasp. However, the play was called back after Dallas was whistled for too many men on the field. A few plays later and Green Bay is at the goal line courtesy of a 28-yard pitch-and-catch between Love and Josh Jacobs.

End of first quarter: Packers 7, Cowboys 0

8:55 p.m.: The Cowboys have struggled with offense thus far. They gave the ball back to Green Bay after a short drive.

8:45 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Green Bay opens it scoring account with ease, with Jordan Love finding Matthew Golden into the red zone. Love capped the drive with a dart to Romeo Doubs for six.

Packers 7, Cowboys 0

8:30 I.m.: And we're off! The Packers will receive the ball first!

7:30 p.m.: The stars are out ahead of the Cowboys' clash with the Packers. Chief among them: former Packers QB Brett Favre.

6:45 p.m.: Micah Parsons looking spiffy ahead of tonight's contest. Given the stakes of the clash, it's easy to understand why he's draped in such fine furs.
