The 24-hour period after NFL cutdown day is always an active one, with teams making improvements to the margins of their 53-man rosters.

However, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Shilo Sanders remains unsigned, according to a tracker on NFL.com, and it appears his final hope for playing in the NFL this season will be as a practice squad player. Starting at noon ET on August 27, teams could begin signing players to their practice squads. Each NFL team is allotted 17 spots for practice squad players, including one international signing.

Signed as an undrafted free agent in April, Sanders was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Bucs put him through waivers, and he went unclaimed by all other NFL teams.

Shilo is, of course, the son of Deion Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member and current Colorado Buffaloes head coach. Coach Prime commented on his son's football future after his son was released by the Bucs.

“We’re praying that he gets another opportunity to go with a team,” Deion said. “But if he doesn’t, the plans have already been put forward to what he’s going to do next. Shilo’s a man of many talents. I don’t know if you guys know, he’s a man of many talents, and he’s gonna be straight. All the Sanders are gonna be straight, with or without football. You better believe that.”

Shilo made four tackles in the preseason for the Bucs before his month ended a bit prematurely on an ejection when Sanders punched Bills tight and Zach Davidson at the end of a physical blocking engagement.
