This time, 38 teams will take part in the competition, divided into Elite and Plate groups. Defending champions Vidarbha will try to keep their winning run going, while big names like Mumbai, Karnataka, and Saurashtra will be eager to get their hands back on the trophy.

The Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season will will begin on October 15, 2025 and end on February 28, 2026.
What is the format of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26?
The tournament is having in total of 138 first-class matches played across India. The 38 participating teams are divided into two main divisions, the Elite Group (32 teams) and the Plate Group (6 teams).
The Elite group is further split into four smaller groups. Each group is having eight teams. The top two from each Elite group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
