The Lucknow Super Giants players have been charged with fines and handed demerit points multiple times throughout the season for various reasons -- most notably, Digvesh Rathi.

Digvesh returned to the field after serving his one-match suspension due to an accumulation of five demerit points. On Tuesday evening, he faced off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and found himself in another moment where he attempted a run out at the non-striker's end.

However, this time, it was the time for Rishabh Pant and the team to be charged with a fine as a disciplinary action after their final encounter of the Indian Premier League 2025.

Why were Rishabh Pant and LSG fined after the match vs RCB?

In the official press release made by the IPL on their official website, captain Pant and the team were fined after the clash at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium due to them maintaining their slow-over rate.

Pant has been fined 30 lakhs INR while the rest of the 10 players in the playing XI and the impact player were fined 12 lakhs or 50% of their match fee, depending on which is lower.

"Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 70 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday," read the official announcement from the league.

This was notably because of the team's third breach of the code of conduct in the 14 league matches. Below is the list of matches where they breached this code of conduct.

  1. Match 16- LSG vs MI (Pant fined 12L)
  2. Match 45- MI vs LSG (Pant 24L; the rest 6L/25% match fee)
  3. Match 70- LSG vs RCB (Pant fined 50L; the rest 12L/50% match fee)
