The final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lock horns with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Both teams are looking forward to clinching their first-ever IPL trophy, as they are set to give their all in the final match of the season.

While Punjab lost to Bengaluru in Qualifier 1 by eight wickets, they bounced back immediately with a win over the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 to set up a re-match with RCB in the summit clash.

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter, but rain can play a spoilsport on the night of the final. The chances of a downpour are minimal, but the last playoff match this season, witnessed a delay of two hours to start play.

The Sporting News takes a look at the outcomes if the game is washed out due to rain.

Is there a reserve day if rain washes out IPL Final?

In the scenario wherein rain completely washes off play, a reserve day has been scheduled for the big event.

The Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method will be used in order to adjust overs if there’s time left for play, but the game can be rescheduled for Wednesday, June 4, if no play is possible on Tuesday.

Who will win if the reserve day is washed off?

The chances of the reserve day getting washed off as well are very little, but in the scenario where the reserve day for the final is washed off as well, the new IPL champions will be decided by another method.

The team that is placed higher in the points table out of the two finalists will be crowned as the new IPL champions. In this case, Punjab Kings will be crowned as champions since they finished the season as the table toppers, ahead of second-place RCB.

Although this method seems to be fair, it would prove to be a massive disappointment for the fans if the winner is decided without a ball being bowled.
