Man City vs. Napoli prediction, lineups, TV channel and bet builder tips for De Bruyne return image

This match is perhaps most intriguing for the return of Kevin De Bruyne, who left Manchester City for Napoli this summer as the Italian champions travel to the Etihad in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester City come into the match tonight on the back of a 3-0 demolition of Manchester United in the first Manchester Derby of the season, recovering from back-to-back losses to Tottenham Hotspur and then Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Napoli have started the defence of their Serie A title in impressive fashion, with the Neapolitans having managed three victories from three matches. Antonio Conte’s Partenopei most recently eased past Fiorentina 3-1 at the Artemio Franchi.

The Sporting News has all the latest odds, tips and predictions for this clash at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester tonight including our stab at Pep's starting XI to try and contain the returning De Bruyne.

Man City vs. Napoli prediction

Antonio Conte has gained a reputation for struggling to get results in Europe, despite excellent domestic records. He does now have quite a deep squad, though, and on the counter-attack they should cause a City side that have proven time and again in the last 12 months that they lack their previously ruthless and dominant levels of consistency.

The Sporting News Score Prediction:

Man City 1-1 Napoli

Man City vs. Napoli is a massive match in its own right but arguably the headline event in the UK is Barcelona's trip to Newcastle. We're predicting a narrow win for Barcelona in a result which would trigger a 50/1 payout as part of this new customer offer on Paddy Power

Man City vs. Napoli lineups

Here's how we think these two sides this weekend. Pep Guardiola brought in Gianluigi Donnarumma and Phil Foden on Sunday and - as they strive for consistency - he should keep things steady. Napoli head to Manchester looking to balance domestic and European commitments but Conte is not known for his ability to rotate.

Man City vs. Napoli team news

  • City made quite a few changes for the Manchester Derby and there could well be the usual Pep Guardiola rotation carousel taking place, especially with Rodri potentially being rotated.
  • Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias kept a clean sheet at centre-back the other day, but United still showed signs of getting at them. They should remain in place as John Stones works his way back to full fitness.
  • Napoli will likely remain without first-choice goalkeeper Alex Meret, with summer signing Vanja Milinkovic-Savic keeping his spot between the sticks for this one.
  • Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund scored on debut for Napoli the other day and he should keep his place in the eleven ahead of Lorenzo Lucca.
