The WNBA’s second year sensation Caitlin Clark has dominated headlines this season, but she’s not the frontrunner for the league’s top individual honor. According to a new graphic from Yahoo Sports from Tuesday, June 3, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier currently leads the MVP odds at -250.

There’s no denying Collier, 28, has delivered an amazing campaign so far, with some of the best defense and offensive numbers in the league, along with strong leadership. She’s seen as being instrumental in keeping the Lynx in the playoff mix, and the odds show she's the clear favorite for MVP — ahead of Clark, 23, who sits at +450.

LA Sparks standout A’ja Wilson is close behind at +700, while Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum round out the top five. Stewart’s long odds (+5000) suggest voters are watching new faces this year.

Though Clark has been injured for much of her second season, her impact on the Fever — and on the league’s visibility — is hard to overstate. Recent statistics show most of the league’s top games in terms of viewership involved Clark and the Fever. The price of away games including Clark and the Fever dropped precipitously after her quad injury. Some would argue that type of influence merits the MVP alone, but others say production should be the deciding factor.

The season is really just getting started still, but for now, it’s Collier — not Clark — who’s setting the standard.
