KD Jones, a senior running back from Oklahoma power Jenks, had been committed to Oklahoma State until recently.

Thursday night, Jones announced his commitment to another Big 12 Conference school. He has now committed to Kansas per his X page.

Jones had been committed to Oklahoma State until late last month, in the wake of the Cowboys firing their longtime coach, Mike Gundy.

There was some speculation that Jones might end up going to Oklahoma, where his father Kejuan Jones played running back in the early 2000s. But the younger Jones, who has received more than 30 offers, decided to go out of state with his latest commitment announcement.

In fact, Kansas was in his final five choices of schools along with OU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Louisville.

Jones, who started his high school career playing at nearby Broken Arrow before transferring to Jenks prior to his sophomore season, has nearly 800 yards and 15 total TDs through five games this season.

He is also the Trojans’ all-time leading rusher, breaking the record that was set by his father. In addition, KD Jones is three TDs away from being Jenks' all-time leader in that category, having scored 59 times since transferring to the Trojans.

Jenks will play at home Friday against Mustang. The Trojans are 4-1, with their lone defeat coming to three-time defending Class 6A-I champion Bixby.
