Vandebilt Catholic senior Ethan Heney and Barbe junior Jelandon Gray have been solid leaders for their teams this year.
Heney led the Terriers to a 55-12 win over Central Lafourche with 267 total yards and four touchdowns. Under Heney's play, Vandebilt Catholic is 3-0 for the second straight season.
Gray accounted for 456 total yards and seven touchdown in the Bucs' wild 70-65 loss to Lake Charles College Prep in Week 2. Gray has been on a tear the last two weeks with 561 passing yards and nine touchdowns.
For their efforts, Heney was named as the The Sporting News' Louisiana Player of the Week for Week 1 (Sept. 1-7) and Gray took the honors for Week 2 (Sept. 8-14).
Heney earned 1,468 (60.41%) of the 2,430 Week 1 votes, while Gray garnered 133 (72.68%) of the 183 Week 2 votes.
